Head boy

2nd Oct 2018

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Adam Laffin and I am this year’s newly appointed Head Boy of Rathfriland High School. Being selected for Head Boy came as a surprise to me-but it was a pleasant surprise and it is definitely a role I am happy to take on.

I realise that being Head Boy is not about believing yourself to be better than anyone else. It is about having the trust of the Staff and fellow students and to represent them with integrity and enthusiasm.

Since starting Rathfriland High School, I have grown and developed so much as a person. I have achieved so much with the help and support of the school community and I have always been encouraged and supported to do my best in my classes. Beyond the classroom, I am fortunate to have also been given the opportunity to represent my school on the sport’s field and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of trying to beat records-particularly in the high jump. I even took myself out of my comfort zone by taking on a role in the School Production of ‘Grease’ in year 11. Never before did I think I could stand in front of such huge audiences and perform -I guess my character Vince Fontaine really taught me a thing or two!

I promise to carry out my duty as Head Boy to the best of my ability and to try and maintain the high standards demonstrated by others throughout the years in this role. I look forward to carrying out all the requirements of the role, and in particular, I look forward to representing my school during my final year here at Rathfriland High School.
