Geography Trip to W5

22nd Mar 2010
Geography Trip to W5

On Wednesday 3rd March, the Year 11 Geography class visited W5 as part of the Royal Society Local Heroes talks and events, an exciting celebration of 350 years of the Royal Society’s scientific achievement and endeavour taking place at the award-winning interactive discovery centre.

Along with other schools, the class attended a special talk at W5 by climate expert Chris Turney, Director of Carbonscape and author of Ice, Mud and Blood; Lessons from Climates Past, covering the continuing relationship between climate, humans and the landscape and the challenges we face in the future. The class is looking at the topic of climate change at the minute so the talk was very relevant.

After the lecture, pupils had the opportunity to look around W5 at some exciting and informative exhibitions. A very enjoyable and educational day was had by all!
