He Cookery Competition

On Monday 21st November 2011 James Frazer from 11A1 competed in the second stage of the Future Chef competition. The local finals were held in the SERC, Downpatrick where 12 competitiors were set the challenge of cooking a main course and dessert with a budget of £6. Competitiors were allocated one and a half hours in which to do this.

James made the following:

Tomato and chilli stuffed chicken breasts on a bed of red pepper and paprika couscous served with asparagus and a creamy balsamic and red onion sauce, followed by a layered drambuie syllabub.

Judges had a hard decision as all competiors produced food to a very high standard. Three pupils were chosen to progress to the next stage (the regional finals) and James was one of these.

James will now be mentored by a professional chef from a local hotel/restaurant to improve his culinary skills in preparation for the next stage in February.

The Home Economics department are very proud of James's success. Well Done!
