Another successful year for RHS GCSE Students!
Rathfriland High School students ended the long wait for their GCSE results on Thursday. There were a few anxious faces as the envelopes were opened, but students quickly discovered that it had been worth the wait!
The results produced by Year 12 students have been outstanding, with 73% of students achieving five or more results at A*- C, including English and Maths. The overall pass rate was an excellent 98%. An impressive 70% of students went on to achieve A*-C results in seven or more subjects, including English and Maths. These fantastic results are a testament to the hard work put in by students during the last two years, the dedication of their teachers and the support and encouragement provided by parents. The results provide a strong platform for students, allowing them to pursue their aspirations for the future through further study, apprenticeships, or employment.
School Principal, Ian Matthews, commented, “We are delighted with the excellent results obtained by our students. Their well-deserved success reflects the hard work and determination they displayed over two years. These accomplishments must be viewed in the context of a return to pre- pandemic standards this year. There was an expectation that results would dip this year, as 2019 standards were applied. Rathfriland High school students have maintained standards set last year and far exceeded our 2019 results. I would also like to recognise the efforts and commitment of all staff at the High School, in supporting children in achieving their potential. I know parents will be very proud of the achievements of their children and the role families have played in this journey cannot be overestimated. We wish all our students well as they embark on the next stage of their journey.”
