Chris Mawhinney– Head Chef of the Hilton Hotel in Belfast visits Rathfriland High School
On Thursday 27th September 2012, Chris Mawhinney– Head Chef of the Hilton Hotel in Belfast visited Rathfriland High School and demonstrated two dishes that required great culinary skills –With the help of Joy Kennedy and Lee Patterson, he boned out three free range chickens. He then used the chicken fillets to make a sautéed chicken dish that pupils were able to taste.
Chris then demonstrated a quick sautéed lobster dish, which many pupils enjoyed tasting as many had not had the opportunity to sample lobster before.
Chris was able to provide pupils with some interesting information in relation to the different foods he was using and different methods he was demonstrating.
It was a bit of a squeeze - 63 Year 10 pupils in the H.E practical room, but well worth it! Check out the video clip on the HE Page (under curriculum) J
