Manchester Tour Day 2
At the beginning of an action packed day we first headed to the University of Manchester to partake in our first training session with the Thunder coaches. Likewise, the boys travelled on to Sale Sharks where they had a pitch session, focusing on attacking play.
Following two highly enjoyable and beneficial sessions we headed to the Trafford Centre where the boys grabbed some lunch and then left for their fixture, while the girls stayed on to shop till they dropped. Let's just day Selfridges got a good lift yesterday!
The boys took on Audenshaw School, who play on the top Grammar School circuit in England. A 1200 all boys school, with a passion for Rugby. To say we were up against a high level of opposition is no understatement and although we lost the game 28-14, the boys were exceptional in every aspect of their play and we are incredibly proud of them. Player of the match went to Ethan Cairns, closely followed by a number of candidates including Alex Irwin.
We then collected the girls and headed back to the hotel for some tea, before the girls headed to their fixture vs. DNA Netball Club. Both of our teams played exceptionally well against a very well drilled DNA outfit. Although the scorelines didn't go our way in either game, the girls can be very proud of their efforts. Players of the match went to Carley Johnston and Ruth Trimble, who were excellent.
Meanwhile the boys had some much needed R&R at the local bowling alley. Safe to say, they need to stick to the Rugby!
A very necessary day off today, as we head to Alton Towers.
