The facilities in the new 'Harper Suite’ were officially opened on Friday 25th February. We were delighted to be joined by Catherine Beatty, who unveiled a photograph and plaque in memory of her partner Simon. Also in attendance were Mr Trevor Robinson Principal of Lurgan College and former Rathfriland High Principal, Mrs Amanda McCullough. Former colleagues, current staff and pupils also attended the event. School Principal, Mr Ian Matthews commented, "Simon Harper made a significant contribution to Rathfriland High School during his time as Principal (2003-2010), he continues to be held in high esteem by all those who worked with him and knew him. We are honoured that Catherine joined us today to open our wonderful new facilities. Simon was originally a Chemistry teacher and I think it is fitting that these new facilities will pay tribute to Simon's legacy for generations to come."
