Rathfriland High School celebrate Mathematics and Numeracy
Rathfriland High School celebrated Mathematics and Numeracy across all key stages and amongst staff too, raising awareness, appreciation, and participation.
Year 8
Working in teams, Year 8 pupils took part in a series of maths puzzles and games, including Sudoku, Countdown, Code Breaker, Connect Four and Snakes and Ladders – answering challenging questions to get on the board!
The competitive mathematicians worked hard to problem solve together, in order to solve mathematical problems and achieve maximum points at each station. Congratulations to the winning teams!
The winning teams then got the opportunity to take part in The Chase quiz. First, they had to make a difficult decision to take on one or two chasers, with the later gaining them a more impressive prize. Each group took the challenge and faced two chasers “The Governor” aka Vice Principal, Mr Robinson and “The Superintendent" aka Principal, Mr Matthews! Not an easy feat for the Year 8 pupils, although it must be mentioned that more than one team outran the Chasers!
A huge thanks to Mr Matthews and Mr Robinson for taking on the challenge and adding to the overall experience, to all of Year 8 for engaging in the event and to the 10A1 pupils for all their help running the event.
