Rathfriland High School Students Gain Exceptional GCSE Results in 2022 Examinations

Rathfriland High School students have obtained exceptional GCSE results in the first GCSE examinations since 2019. An outstanding 97% of pupils achieved at least 5 grades at A*-C, with a highly impressive 81% of pupils achieving at least 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics.

The Principal, Mr Ian Matthews acknowledged the achievement of all concerned, commenting, “The outstanding success of our GCSE students is a testament to their hard work and perseverance, in the face of considerable challenges over the last two years. These results, which are the best in the school’s history, are a credit to our young people and I couldn’t be happier for them. I also want to pay tribute to the dedication, commitment and professionalism of our staff and governors who have invested so much in ensuring all students achieved their potential. The role parents have played in encouraging and supporting their children should not be underestimated and I know today will be a proud day for them. I would like to congratulate our students on their success and wish them well for their further studies and careers.”
