June 21st is National Thank a Teacher Day. We had an extra special reason to mark the day, as we recognised the nomination of Miss McAllister for the prestigious 'Secondary Teacher of the Year Award' at the Pearson National Teacher Awards. Mr Matthews, accompanied by Head of English, Mrs Wilson, were delighted to present Miss McAllister with a certificate recognising her achievement and a letter of recognition from author and President of the National Teaching Awards, Michael Morpurgo. Mr Matthews commented, " I am delighted that the hard work and dedication shown by Miss McAllister, has been recognised in this way and I wish her every success in the awards. We are fortunate that, as a school community, we benefit from the many and varied talents of our hard working teaching and support staff. It is their willingness to consistently go above and beyond for our pupils that makes Rathfriland High the school it is. I would like to take this opportunity, on National Thank a Teacher Day, to say a heartfelt thank you to all the staff in Rathfriland High, for the efforts they make year round."
