Read for Africa
Rathfriland High School English and Geography Departments are helping to raise money for charity this week by reading in lessons. This reading event will take place between February 11th and 15th for ‘New Beginnings’ Charity. Pupils in Years 8-10 have the opportunity to read in the Library, use IPADS, IPODS and Kindles to improve reading skills and raise much needed funds for New Beginnings.
New Beginnings was established in June 2009 in Nakasongola, Uganda. Each child within its care is provided with a loving home, nutritional meals, medical care and the chance to go to school to receive a valuable education.
New Beginnings is a Christian organisation and works closely with the local community and church.
They currently have over 80 street children-some are orphans, victims of abuse and extremely vulnerable. But since being taken into New Beginnings they are now very happy and they enjoy their education at Kiwondwe School.
Thank you to all pupils for your support.
