RHS U16 Rugby team victory over Craigavon SHS
Our U16 Rugby team travelled to take on High School Rugby stalwarts Craigavon SHS at Portadown RFC.
A brilliant display of skill and aggression from both teams throughout the game led to a highly competitive match. RHS took the lead early in the first half through a well worked Elliot Hutchinson try. Despite having another few good chances, frustratingly we left a few points on the pitch and after a sustained period of pressure CSHS crossed our line, taking a 7-5 lead into the interval.
A superb start to the half saw Hutchinson go close again, deemed to have knocked on over the line. Our pack put good pressure through the resulting scrum, leading to a mistake that was quickly pounced on by Oliver Skelly, to take the score to 7-10 in favour of the RHS.
This was then backed up by an aggressive, agile solo score from centre Jamie Graham, duly converted by Oliver, taking our lead to 17-7.
A late spell of pressure saw CSHS awarded a penalty try, due to a couple of high tackles. The match finishing 14-17 to Rathfriland. Our first ever away win against this opposition and second ever victory.
A great performance from all players involved and testament to their hard work and dedicated training.
