SRC Classes cancelled next week

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

You may be aware the University and College Union (UCU) has called strike action across the six Regional Colleges of Further Education from Monday 18 to Friday 22 September 2023, with further single days planned in October and November 2023.

This has a direct impact on Rathfriland High School as we utilise the Southern Regional College (SRC) to provide part of our curricular offer to Key Stage 4 pupils (Years 11 and 12).

As a consequence of the planned action there will be no provision for certain pupils next week and as such pupils should remain at home on the following days and times.

1. Occupational Studies on Wednesday 2oth September affecting 11A3 and 12A3 – pupils in these two classes should remain at home on this day.

2. Banbridge Area Learning Community (BALC) - BTEC courses:

• Tuesday 19^th – Year 12 BTEC classes in Engineering and Childcare – pupils should arrive at school at 12:35 for lunch and the last three periods. Pupils will receive a present mark for the full day if they attend in the afternoon.

• Thursday 21st – Year 11 BTEC classes in Engineering and Childcare – pupils should arrive at school at 12:35 for lunch and the last three periods. Pupils will receive a present mark for the full day if they attend in the afternoon.
