SU Mission 10th-12th February 2016
We had a great few days at the before the half term break at our SU mission.
On Wednesday Harry Bruce a beat boxer took assembly and then year groups for a beat boxing workshop. The pupils were very attentive and some of them displayed skills which they didn’t know they had! At lunchtime Mr Ross and Mrs Hawthorne had a beat boxing battle and Mr Ross reigned supreme!
On Thursday the music department was filled with all types of percussion instruments as Adam Stewart a drum kit player and tutor took music classes. Pupils really enjoyed the percussion workshop where they got to play a variety of drums from around the world and they made a lot of noise! At lunchtime Adam performed on his drum kit and got some of the budding drum kit players in school to demonstrate their skills!
On Friday the NOMAD cage football team set up their cage in GYM 2 and PE classes enjoyed some team games and time playing football in the cage. At lunchtime the cage was open to pupils and a lot of energy was used up running about!
On Friday night the assembly hall was transformed with a full sound system, lights, smoke machine and gunge tank! Around 150 pupils attended and had a great time playing with giant beach balls, winning prizes, singing to One Direction, eating and playing some games. The gunge the teacher vote was a tight race but Mrs Somerville received the most votes and she was a good sport and got very messy! Mrs Johnston came second in the vote but we decided to gunge her too just for the fun of it! Martin Tuscon then shared his story and BMX skills on the stage and Pip from CJM shared a challenging message from the Bible. A number of pupils responded and it was a great night!
It was a very busy but fantastic few days! We as SU leaders were really encouraged by the enthusiasm of the pupils and how well they supported the events. We would like to thank all the local churches for their prayerful and financial support, CJM for their help in organising and running the mission and the Senior Management and staff for all their support.
