On Friday 8th April Rathfriland High's Under 13 football team faced Newry High in the South Down League Plate final. The match was a close one, with a single goal courtesy of Noah Malcomson separating the teams at the half-way point. Rathfriland pushed hard to increase their lead in the second half and created a number of chances. Despite their efforts they were unable to increase the lead and our goalkeeper, Joshua Magennis, was forced to make some crucial saves to maintain the lead.
The final whistle blew, securing a 1-0 victory and the plate for RHS!
Well done to all those involved. The boys thoroughly deserved this after a strong run in the cup and great team spirit on the day.
