U13's Small Schools' Cup Final
On Friday 16th June, our U13 Football team travelled up to Belfast to play in the final of the Northern Ireland Small Schools’ Cup vs. St Patrick’s. After a great season and cup run, the boys fell just short of clinching the silverware, coming out on the wrong side of a slightly flattering 4-1 score line. Despite their best efforts and quite literally putting their bodies on the line, the boys were unable to recover from a couple of quick fire second half goals.
They did stick to their task though, with Alex Irwin scoring a 30-yard top corner screamer! Man of the Match on the day also went to one of our players, Scott McKnight, who ran rings around his opposition.
This team can hold their heads up high and look forward to going again next season, with the majority being in Y8 currently.
We would also like to thank all the staff, pupils and parents that made the journey to Belfast to support the boys. It really meant a lot to them and the atmosphere created was exceptional.
Thanks also to Rathfriland Football Club for providing us with a last-minute set of kit!
