U16 Rugby League Winners
Ulster Rugby U16 South East League Champions
Yesterday, our U16 Rugby team were crowned league champions, overcoming Shimna Integrated College with a score line of 56-5. Despite conceding an early try, the boys played with real intent and determination. Ryan McMurray starred in a man of the match performance with two tries, alongside fellow try scorers, Adam Truesdale x 3, Louie McCreedy, Joseph Trimble and William Weir. Special mention goes to Alexander Corbett who scored a spectacular length of the field try. Frazer Shilliday was impeccable from the kicking tee and was backed up by William Wharton and Sam Macauley, converting all 8 scores.
This is just rewards, for a great deal of hard work so far this year. For a school of our size to perform at the level they are, is testament to how well the boys have pulled together. They should be very proud of their achievements.
Although we celebrate this success, we now set our sights on the High Schools Cup, which will commence in the New Year. The boys can take a great deal of confidence from previous performances, however they will need to double their efforts, as we hope to compete against some of the top High Schools in the country after the Christmas break.
Well done to all of the boys, from all of our teams, for a good start to the season. We all look forward to seeing what can be achieved when we return in January.
