Today in Mrs Annett’s Year 9 History lessons, we watched the attached video and paused to think about those who have lost their lives, loved ones and limbs to serve and protect our country. We discussed important lessons that we could learn from Remembrance, like selflessness, kindness, bravery and empathy. We thought about how we remember others - through memorials, statues, song, poetry, pictures, wearing a poppy, a minutes silence, memory walks, lighting a candle etc. To conclude our lesson pupils got to work designing their own way to remember – some chose lyrics, planning remembrance gardens, Bible verses, poppy pictures, collages and some even designed tattoos with memorable symbols and imagery.
A poignant and worthwhile time spent thinking about and remembering others.
